Suffolk County SPCA Detectives have arrested a Port Jefferson Station man and charged him with Animal Cruelty on June 15, 2023 after an investigation determined that his dogs were suffering from the ingestion of cocaine and fentanyl.
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA said that SPCA officers responded to a local animal hospital. A toxicology report indicated that both male dogs, Freddy and Tonto, approximately 15 week old chihuahuas, were suffering from symptoms of an overdose of cocaine. The ingestion of cocaine can be lethal to dogs. Narcan was administered to reverse the opioid overdose.
Adam Dziomba, 53, of Port Jefferson Station, NY was charged with two counts of Misdemeanor Animal Cruelty. Dziomba is due to appear in First District Court on June 16, 2023.
