Rudy Giuliani is adding another another legal problem to the pile of ones he already has.
His ex-wife is suing him and demands that he pay her more than $250,000 in order to avoid going to jail.
Judith Giuliani asserts in new court documents submitted on Tuesday to the Supreme Court of the State of New York that the former mayor and former personal lawyer to Donald Trump is in contempt of court for allegedly failing to pay her the $262,000 she was due as part of their divorce settlement for things like their Palm Beach, Florida home, housekeeper, and private club fees.
She also claims that Rudy failed to “pay his half of the annual club membership dues,” despite the fact that they are both liable for their own dues at a country club. She claims that she has had to pay him $70,000 in bailout money. According to court documents, she said, “I had no choice but to pay his half of the dues… in order to remain in good standing with the clubs.” She is demanding her money back.
He must also provide her with assistance, such as a housekeeper or assistant, for up to $5,000 a month. Rudy “has made inconsistent and infrequent payments to me since last summer,” she asserts in the documents, “including a $10,000 check in June 2021 that was returned due to insufficient funds.” In the documents, she claims that he currently owes $45,000 in back compensation for the assistance.
Judith is convinced that despite his recent difficulties, Rudy has the money to pay the $262,000 in full.
Because he reportedly skipped the payment, Judith’s attorneys claim he is in contempt of court and should be put in jail if he doesn’t get his act together.
“Your failure to appear in court may result in immediate arrest or imprisonment for contempt of court,” the papers say.
