Legislator Anthony Piccirillo wrapped up 2020 with a final community outreach program, which was a tremendous success. The 1st Annual Holiday Toy Drive hosted by Legislator Piccirillo who represents the 8th Legislative District in Suffolk County, benefitted two great organizations, Toys for Tots and VIBS. In addition to donating toys to these organizations, the 8th Legislative District was also able to help more than 25 families within our very own community. In total more than 535 toys were collected in the 8th Legislative District. The 8th Legislative District additionally partnered with the Suffolk County Legislature and Assemblyman Doug Smith from the 5th Assembly District to distribute toys to these great organizations.
“I would like to thank everyone who donated to our holiday toy drive, as always our community goes above and beyond every time we ask them” said Legislator Piccirillo. The 8th Legislative District has held multiple community outreach programs throughout 2020, all of which were tremendously successful. “ I would like to especially thank the Stony brook Urology Department, Sachem High School Honor Society members, as well as the constituents of the 8th Legislative District for their generous donations this holiday season” Legislator Piccirillo said.
The Holiday Toy Drive started on December 1st and ended two days before Christmas. “The generosity of our community was amazing, together we were able to give hundreds of toys to deserving children” said the freshman Legislator. The 8th Legislative District Office Teamed up with the Presiding Officer Rob Calarco for a Toys for Tots drive through toy collection on Saturday December 19th. “I was happy to work with the Presiding Officer and other Legislators for an unconventional toy collection, in these unconventional times” Piccirillo said.
Additionally, the Legislator teamed up with NYS Assemblyman Doug Smith to donate hundreds of toys to VIBS. “It was great to collaborate with my good friend Assemblyman Doug Smith for a very worthy cause and look forward to collaborating together in the future” said Piccirillo.
In addition to the Holiday Toy Drive, the 8th Legislative District will be collecting new and lightly used coats for a coat drive throughout the winter.
