Lupinacci Accepts “Car Free Day” LI Award for Town of Huntington

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci accepted an award on behalf of the Town of Huntington for earning 1st place among Towns in pledges to commute sustainably for Car Free Day, an initiative of Transit Solutions, and 2nd place among municipalities, on October 21.

“We are thrilled to earn first place among towns and second place among municipalities – even beating the entire County of Nassau – in pledges to commute sustainably for Car Free Day LI this year,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “I would like to give a special thanks to Terese Kinsley, TOH Chief Sustainability Officer, for her outstanding work and leadership in this annual initiative.”

Mindy Germain, Co- Chair of Car Free Day LI, and Lainey Benson, Sustainable Transportation and Smart Mobility Consultant at ICF, presented Supervisor Lupinacci and Terese Kinsley the award certificate for earning 1st place among Towns, with 42 pledges to commute sustainably, and 2nd place among municipalities.

In a public service announcement, Supervisor Lupinacci encouraged Huntington residents to pledge to commute sustainably for Long Island’s 8th Annual Car Free Day, which took place on Friday, September 25.
