Legislature Joins with Lynbrook Village Officials to Announce Participation in Blue Ribbon Campaign in Support of Law Enforcement

As the Nassau County Police Department and thousands of NYPD officers living on Long Island experience anti-police sentiment coupled with calls to “defund the police”, the Nassau County Legislature unveiled a new Blue Ribbon initiative to encourage homes and business to show their support for the men and women of law enforcement.

Legislator Bill Gaylor joined with Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beech, Lynbrook Police Chief Brian Paladino, and community members to unveil blue ribbons in Lynbrook to show support for law enforcement.

“In light of calls to defund the police, this Blue Ribbon campaign will allow Lynbrook residents, and residents across the county to show their appreciation for those who heroically serve our community every day.” Legislator Bill Gaylor (R, Lynbrook) said. This initiative is a great way for our residents to thank them for all they do and show their appreciation for their service.”

Cathy Bien, a lifelong Lynbrook resident who has hung hundreds of ribbons already, said “After bail reform was passed, and now as calls to defund the police sweep the nation, I wanted to help show our police offers in Lynbrook and around the county that we support them and stand with them. Our police officers are professional, heroic, and consistently put the safety of our residents above their own. Displaying these ribbons is a small gesture that will show our officers that drive by that they are appreciated, and residents support the work they do.”

“Our officers in Lynbrook reflect the very best of our communities and have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving our residents. Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beach said. “I urge our residents to hang a blue ribbon on their home, or tree to show that we support law enforcement, and all that they do to keep us safe.”
