Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty and The Daniel Gale Foundation are proud to launch a community book drive in partnership with The Book Fairies, a nonprofit organization who helps close literacy gaps for children and families in under-resourced communities across Long Island and the New York City metropolitan area. The initiative kicked off earlier this week on March 2, 2026, with donation sites established at Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty offices region wide.
This long-term drive will collect new and gently used children’s books, young adult titles, and family-oriented reading materials to be distributed through The Book Fairies’ programs — which source and redistribute books to schools, classroom and home libraries, community centers, shelters, and other partners that serve high-need neighborhoods on Long Island and in New York City. The Book Fairies’ model removes financial and access barriers so that every child has equitable opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive through reading.

The partnership draws on The Book Fairies’ deep expertise in literacy outreach; according to their mission, the organization has become one of the region’s leading book donation advocates by placing donated books directly into the hands of children where they are needed most. Their ongoing work helps nurture a love of reading and supports educators and community partners in building vibrant, accessible book collections.
