Outdoor Clothing Retailer Eddie Bauer Switching to Online-Only Sales Model, Closing All Brick-and-Mortar Stores

Outdoor clothing retailer Eddie Bauer announced this week that they are switching to an online-only sales model, and as a result will be closing all of their approximately 200 brick-and-mortar stores across the United States and Canada.

The surprising move comes as the company that operates the retail locations, Catalyst Brands, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday, February 3.

Eddie Bauer locations have already started liquidation sales, and the brand’s website no longer has a store locator option.

The company was established in 1920 in Seattle by outdoorsman Eddie Bauer.

This marks the third time the retailer has filed for bankruptcy, following filings in 2003 and 2009.
