According to data from the New York State Gaming Commission, legal online sports wagering has generated $3,889,872,492.15 in tax revenue since its launch in 2021.
This week marks five years since elected leaders in the state first announced support for legalizing online sports betting as a way to protect consumers and create a new revenue stream for the state. Since that time, New York has earned more revenue each year than the year prior and legal operators annually generate more tax revenue than any other state. These financial supports predominantly fund public schools, as well as support youth sports programming and responsible gaming initiatives.
