NCPD: Queens Man Accused of Impersonating Cop in Elmont Tracked Down and Arrested by Real Cops

Fifth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Queens man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 10:30 pm in Elmont.
According to detectives, Mitchell Robi, 32, of 259-15 57th Avenue, Little Neck, approached a male victim, 25, at Mobile Gas Station, located at 101 Hempstead Turnpike and verbally identified himself as an undercover police officer, while stating that he was off duty. Defendant Robi began searching inside the victim’s sweatshirt and pants pockets. He then opened the passenger side door of the victim’s car and moved some items that were on the floor of the vehicle. After the victim asked Robi to produce police identification, he left the scene in a red Nissan Altima.
A thorough investigation was conducted and Defendant Mitchell Robi was taken into custody on March 26, 2024 at 6:55 pm without incident.
Defendant Robi is charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree and will be arraigned on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
