Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) applauded her colleagues on the Legislature’s Rules committee for approving a key contract for advancing the Long Beach Road resurfacing, drainage and traffic safety improvement project. During committee meetings on Monday, March 11, Rules members approved an $807,647.60 contract Gannett Fleming Engineers and Architects, P.C. for engineering services.
Funds will be drawn from the $9.44 million in capital plan funding commitments that Legislator Mulé secured for the second phase of improvements to Long Beach Road in South Hempstead, a project which will focus on the stretch between Stanton Avenue and the Southern State Parkway. The project builds upon flood mitigation project on Long Beach Road under the Southern State overpass which Legislator Mulé shepherded to completion in the summer of 2021.
“As we work to prepare the County’s forthcoming capital plan, securing County resources to bolster traffic safety along Long Beach Road is my top priority,” Legislator Mulé said. “I thank my colleagues on the Rules committee for approving this contract and bringing us one step closer to delivering the resurfacing, drainage, and traffic safety improvements that the residents of South Hempstead have demanded for so long.”
