Spectrum Designs, a custom apparel and promotional products business, headquartered in Port Washington, NY, will usher in Autism Acceptance Month by opening its doors at 366 Main Street to the community for an inspiring Open House event on Monday, April 1, 2024. The inaugural event shines light on the company’s commitment to providing meaningful job opportunities for adults on the Autism Spectrum and efforts to transform perceptions of the capabilities of neurodiverse individuals. With nearly 85% of adults on the Autism Spectrum unemployed in the United States, Spectrum has been challenging the status quo for 13+ years – emerging as a model for inclusive business practices nationwide.
Today, more than half of Spectrum’s 75 employees are on the spectrum – producing thousands of custom designs and branded merch daily for heavyweights like Google and JP Morgan Chase, and most recently Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation – as well as dozens of local, regional and national organizations of all sizes.
Attendees will receive an exclusive tour of Spectrum’s facilities. They’ll witness the talented team in action, responsible for the company’s record-breaking $5.5 million in sales last year, and see the innovative environment where inclusivity and neurodiversity drive success. Coinciding with the celebration, Spectrum will unveil a company rebrand including a new marketing campaign and TV commercial.
Kelli Fischer, an employee diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, served as the inspiration for the campaign and played a key role in developing the campaign materials. She also takes center stage in Spectrum’s forthcoming tv commercial, scheduled for release on April 1. Like many in her community, Kelli faced difficulties securing employment after graduating from college. Now, alongside her mother, Kelli is eager to share her story of empowerment and success.
