Authorities: Lindenhurst Man Busted with Illegal Firearms in Vehicle During Traffic Stop

The Second Squad reports on the arrest of a Lindenhurst man for the Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Thursday, March 14, 2024 in Brookville.
According to Detectives, while on patrol a Brookville Police Officer observed a white 2023 Dodge Charger traveling northbound on Route 107 near intersection of Wheatley Road that committed several traffic infractions. The Officer conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop of the vehicle on Route 107 near intersection of Equestrian Court.
During the investigation, an imitation pistol resembling a Glock 9mm was recovered and the operator of the vehicle, defendant Robert Abruzzese, 49, of 345 North Niagara Avenue was placed under arrest without incident. Upon further investigation, a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 Revolver was also recovered from inside the vehicle.
Defendant Robert Abruzzese is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions. He will be arraigned on Friday, March 15, 2024 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
