Stew Leonard’s has issued a recall for several chicken products on Monday, saying that they they were mislabeled due to the undeclared potential presence of dairy.
Eight Stew Leonard’s products in all – sold at the chain grocer from August 2022 until January 29, 2024 – were recalled due to the fact that they “may contain undeclared milk,” according to a press release.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the press release reads. “No illnesses have been reported to date.”
The products recalled Monday are Sliced and Shaved Chicken, Sliced and Shaved Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Salad, Chicken Salad Sub Sandwich, Buffalo Chicken Salad, Boom Boom Chicken Salad, Cape Cod Chicken Salad, and Lite Chicken Salad.
This recall comes one month after a customer died eating another of Stew Leonard’s products with similarly undeclared ingredients. On January 11, New York City resident Orla Baxendale, 25, passed away after eating a Vanilla Florentine cookie that contained peanuts – which were not disclosed on the item’s packaging – to which she had a serious allergy; she tragically passed away after going into severe anaphylactic shock.
The cookies in question were manufactured by Cookies United and sold in a Stew Leonard’s Connecticut location. After the incident, the chain issued a recall for the cookies.
