For parched fans of Long Island’s very own Piano Man, Billy Joel, the long drought since his last musical release has finally ended.
The famed singer/songwriter has released his first original song in 17 years, entitled “Turn the Lights Back On.” This is Joel’s first new song since he released two tracks way back in 2007: “All My Life” and “Christmas in Fallujah.”

Prior to those two songs, he had stated that the 1993 album “River of Dreams” would be his final record and that he would no longer write or record pop/rock music, although he would continue to compose. He would go on to release the album “Fantasies & Delusions” in 2001, although it was comprised only of classical piano instrumental pieces.
Despite stepping back from the recording industry has continuously toured over the years and is currently in the midst of a residency at New York City’s Madison Square Garden that ends later in 2024. He is also slated to perform on February 4 at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
