The Public Information Office reports on the arrest of an adult male for DWI that occurred on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10:06 PM in Valley Stream.
According to Police, defendant Richard Welch, 59 of 1131 State County Route 81, Climax, NY, was operating his black pickup truck traveling southbound on South Central Avenue when he struck two unoccupied Nassau County Police Vehicles who were parked for an unrelated call. Defendant Richard Welch was transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. Both Nassau County Police Vehicles were heavily damaged and taking out of service for repairs. No Officers were injured.
Defendant Richard Welch is charged with DWI and will be arraigned when medically practical at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
