The Fourth Squad reports on a Grand Larceny that occurred on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM in Atlantic Beach and was reported to Police on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
According to Detectives, a 69-year-old male victim went to the Atlantic Beach Post Office located at 1848 Park Street to mail a check valued at approximately $8,000 USC. On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, the victim was notified that his check was never received.
The following day, on Thursday, July 27, 2023 the victim went to his local bank and was notified that the check was deposited by an unknown subject into a bank account in Staten Island. Police were notified and upon investigation a video of the unknown adult male subject taking the check from the bank was recovered.
Further investigation revealed that a second unknown adult male subject was also associated with the bank account that the stolen check was deposited in. Detectives believe that the two subjects may reside in Staten Island.
The first subject is described as an adult male hispanic, approx. 20-25 years of age with a tall, slim build. Long black hair and black goatee with a tattoo on his right hand. Last seen wearing a blue jacket, grey/orange pants, a red shirt and white sneakers.
The second subject is described as an adult male hispanic, approx. 20-25 years of age with a tall, slim build. Long black hair and wearing eyeglasses. Last seen wearing a black jacket and black sweatpants.
