Motorists who are traveling on the Long Island Expressway in Huntington can expect delays and detours in the near future due to nightly closures that are slated for that section of the thoroughfare, according to the NYS Department of Transportation.
I-495 at Huntington’s exit 48 is slated to be closed in both directions on a nightly basis from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting on Wednesday, December 13 until lasting until Friday, December 22.
The closures are to allow Repair crews to work on a bridge deck renewal project; during the period of time when the LIE is closed at exit 48, drivers will be able to use a detour on the ajoining service road.
Motorists are cautioned to expect potential delays, and are reminded that fines for speeding and work zones are doubled.
