NCPD: Jamaica Man Arrested After Allegedly Bilking Disabled 9/11 Victim, Widow Out of Tens of Thousands of Dollars

The Major Case Bureau reports an Arrest for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Monday, July 31, 2023 in Locust Valley.
According to Fraud and Forgery Detectives, Defendant Richard Yasnis, 42, of 8850 179th Street Apt. 1a Jamaica with the intent to defraud did identify himself as a licensed investment advisor and a legitimate representative of Cahill Financial Group.
Defendant Yasnis did receive approximately $79,000.00 USC from a disabled female victim, 53, which was awarded to her from the 911 Victim’s Compensation Fund.
The Defendant also received approximately $88,000.00 USC from a second female victim, 77, who cashed in a deceased husbands life insurance policy.
The victims believed their funds would be legitimately invested in real estate and stocks. The Defendant refused to provide documentation and ceased all communication.
Defendant Richard Yasnis was arrested on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 4:35pm and is charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 2nd Degree.  He will be arraigned on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
