Town of Islip employees and volunteers from Islip Food for Hope today distributed more than 800 turkeys and pies, along with 1,000 ‘Boxes of Love’ to over 70 agencies, including churches and school districts within the Town. These Thanksgiving boxes will be given to families in the community to help ease the burden of food insecurity during the holiday.
The ‘Boxes of Love’ contain all the necessary ingredients to make a traditional holiday dinner, including stuffing, yams, green beans, cranberry sauce and pies.
Representatives from Northwell’s South Shore University Hospital and Catholic Health’s Good Samaritan University Hospital were on hand to help with the distribution.
