Rep. LaLota: Remembering Those Who Served

Share

Today, New York First Congressional District Representative Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County), a Navy Veteran, released the following statement ahead of Veterans Day.

“I’ve always said my favorite job was when I served as a young officer in the Navy and it is a close second to now advocate for Veterans in Congress. So many Americans gave so much to defend our livelihoods and we must do whatever we can to support them now,” said LaLota. “As a Navy Veteran, I’m proud to represent so many fellow Veterans in Congress. I will always fight to ensure our heroes have access to the benefits and services they have earned.”

Background:

In his first eleven months in office, LaLota has introduced several bills to help our nation’s Veterans, including; H.R. 2768 the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program Act, H.R. 3186 the Supporting Veteran Families in Need Act, and H.R. 4424 the Vietnam Veterans Liver Fluke Cancer Study Act.

Additionally, LaLota has cosponsored several other bills to support our heroes, including; H.R. 562 the Improving Veterans Access to Congressional Services Act, H.R. 854 the Captain James C. Edge Gold Star Spouse Equity Act, H.R. 1191 the Correcting Guam’s History in the PACT Act, H.R. 1282 the Major Richard Star Act, H.R. 1413 the Expanding America’s National Cemetery Act, H.R. 3023 the TREAT PTSD Act, H.R. 3428 the United States Cadet Nurse Corps Service Recognition Act, H.Res. 258, and H.Res. 535.
