The First Squad reports the arrest of Wantagh man for a Petit Larceny that occurred on November 9, 2023 at 11:52 am in Baldwin.
According to detectives, officers responded to a Baldwin residence for a male victim, 72, who reported that a package had been stolen from his front porch.
A thorough investigation by detectives, utilizing a Ring doorbell system, recorded the incident and determined that Defendant Frank Merlo, 36, of 3680 Demott Avenue, was responsible for removing the package that had been delivered to the Eastern Parkway residence.
Police located the defendant at the Baldwin Train Station at 2:50 pm and placed him into custody without incident.
Subsequent to the arrest, Defendant Merlo was found to be in possession of a white rock like substance believed to be crack cocaine, as well as the package belonging to the victim.
Defendant Frank Merlo is charged with Petit Larceny, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, November 10, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
