PSEG Long Island congratulates Levittown’s Jerusalem Memorial Chapels for earning significant financial savings by installing energy efficient measures at its new building.

The new funeral home earned $74,317 in energy efficiency rebates from PSEG Long Island for installing ground source Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat pumps and LED lighting that will save money while conserving energy and protecting the environment.

“PSEG Long Island commends Jerusalem Memorial Chapels for keeping an eye on the environment while renovating this beautiful building,” said Michael Voltz, director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for PSEG Long Island. “Installing equipment to light, heat and cool the building using the earth and the sun will save thousands of dollars in energy costs. It also will help conserve energy in the immediate and long-term future.”

“Working with Brittany Degel and PSEG Long Island to maximize efficiency for our newly constructed funeral home was a complete pleasure,” said David Sarhai, co-owner, Jerusalem Memorial Chapels. “PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency program provided us with a tremendous advantage in reducing our utility costs through the implementation of solar power for electricity and geothermal heating and cooling systems. Furthermore, it gave us the unique opportunity to minimize our carbon footprint to benefit future generations. We are extremely grateful to PSEG Long Island for its help in seeing this project come to fruition!”
