Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) secured a $28,340 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant which funded the Plainview Fire Department’s recent purchases of emergency aid defibrillators. The portable automated external defibrillators (AEDs) assist first responders in resuscitating someone who is experiencing a medical emergency such as cardiac arrest or irregular heart rhythm in minutes.
During his visit, Legislator Drucker presented First Deputy Chief Peter Mayrose, Second Deputy Chief Andrew Cohen, and Board of Directors members Spencer Adelberg and Richard Tousey with a ceremonial check commemorating the acquisition of these life-saving devices. Volunteers also provided Legislator Drucker with a tutorial on how to use a fire hose during a demonstration at the firehouse.
“I am committed to doing all I can to support our first responders and equip them with the life-saving resources that will give our residents the best possible chance of surviving a medical emergency,” Legislator Drucker said. “It is always a pleasure to work alongside the Plainview Fire Department and collaborate on initiatives that benefit our constituents, and I am glad to see that the resources my office secured have been put to such good use in our community.”
