Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton Brings Free Skin Cancer Screenings to Glen Cove Senior Center

Approximately 40 people received skin cancer screenings during a clinic hosted by Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove), Dr. Stephen T. Greenberg and Dr. Eve Lupenko at the Glen Cove Senior Center on Friday, Sept. 29.
According to healthcare experts, skin cancers are the most common type of cancer, and the American Cancer Society estimates that 5.4 million cases of basal and squamous skin cancers are diagnosed each year.
“Routine skin exams are important for everyone, but especially as we get older and are confronted with the challenges brought by a lifetime of sun exposure,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I was very happy to see that so many people availed themselves of this opportunity to take control of their own health, and I thank Dr. Greenberg and Dr. Lupenko for their ongoing commitment to improving skin health in our community.”
