The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Lakeview man for a Robbery that occurred on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 9:52 AM in West Hempstead.
According to Detectives, defendant Edwin Nunez, 37 of 697 Thrush Avenue, did remove several packs of beer at a BP Gas Station located at 688 Woodfield Road before getting into a verbal altercation with a store employee and leaving the premises before fully paying for the store merchandise.
The store employee followed him outside, where defendant Edwin Nunez struck the store employee several times before throwing the victims cell phone in the street and fleeing the scene in his vehicle.
After Officers responded and conducted an investigation, they were able to located defendant Edwin Nunez at his home and one Officer sustained in injury during the course of the arrest, as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. The injured Officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Defendant Edwin Nunez is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Robbery 3rd degree and Criminal Mischief 4th degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, September 4, 2023 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
