Multiple Brookhaven Closures Scheduled for Long Island Expressway in Coming Weeks

Share

Multiple closures to the Long Island Expressway (LIE) in the Town of Brookhaven are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, and the Department of Transportation (DOT) urges drivers to prepare for potential delays and detours during their travels as a result.
Exit 63 is slated to be closed overnight for two weeks starting on Tuesday, September 5. In addition, during that period of time the LIE’s eastbound lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the westbound lanes closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Detours will be provided during the closures via adjacent service roads.
The closures are to allow crews to work on a bridge deck removal project; DOT officials are reminding drivers that speeding in a work zone is illegal, and that fines are doubled if caught doing so.
