Amy Juchatz Honored for Protecting the Health of Suffolk County Residents

At arecent General Legislature Meeting, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker honored Amy Juchatz with a proclamation signed by all 17 Suffolk County Legislators for her hard work and service to the county. Amy worked for the county for twenty-three years in the role that eventually became Environmental Toxicologist and served as the Co-Chair of the Suffolk County Cancer Prevention and Health Promotion Coalition.
“It’s my honor today to recognize Amy Juchatz for her work in remediating toxic sites in Suffolk County,” said Legislator Anker. “Amy has always been an advocate for Suffolk residents, working to keep us safe by monitoring health risks and keeping us informed. Thank you Amy for your years of service.”
As Environmental Toxicologist, Amy was responsible for environmental health risk assessment activities in Suffolk County and evaluating exposures to chemicals found in the environment. Since 2004, Amy has also served as the Co-Chair of the Suffolk County Cancer Prevention and Health Promotion Coalition, which works to educate the public and share actionable information on issues relating to the prevention of chronic diseases, such as cancer.
Amy has also gone above and beyond in the community, serving on the New York State Cancer Detection and Education Program Advisory Council, the Stony Brook Cancer Center Citizen’s Advisory Council, the New York State Environmental Biomonitoring Program External Advisory Committee and the Adelphi University Master of Public Health Advisory Committee.
