Trahanas Hospitality Group today announced it will open The General, a members-only cigar club and steakhouse in Eisenhower Park, on August 14, 2023, which will become a destination for cigar aficionados and upscale dining enthusiasts in a private setting.
“The General is a premier, private club providing premium cigars, signature steaks and specialty cocktails in an extraordinary indoor and outdoor setting,” said Elias Trahanas, co-founder of Trahanas Hospitality Group. “Alongside our banquet facility, The Lannin, and our exciting new upscale restaurant, The Union, we will provide a trio of experiences under one roof that is unlike anything on Long Island.”
The General is located on the second floor of the historic building, which underwent a $6.5 million renovation over the last year. The General offers deep red leather booths, lounge seating, a bar and private rooms plus a fully furnished outdoor deck overlooking the Eisenhower Park Golf Course.
Cigar lovers will enjoy a members-only retail humidor and digital ventilation system with personalized Spanish cedar lockers for members, that will be home to personal collections of cigars as well as ones for purchase. Each locker is equipped with keyless entry and comes with a members-only app that gives easy access to a digital membership card, club updates, event bookings, member directories, and more. Two hundred of the premier humidor locker memberships have already been sold.
The General menu will be an unforgettable experience, under the direction of Executive Chef Tom Gloster, and will showcase a variety of high-end favorites. Gloster’s showcase items will be a selection of steaks, including a porterhouse for two, bone-in ribeyes and dry-aged tomahawks. Other menu items will include Wagyu meatballs and a steak sandwich; Japanese Miyazaki A5; Lobster with Truffle Butter; Grilled Branzino with guanciale and onions English peas and horseradish; beef and chicken burgers on brioche buns with steak fries; and classic sides including whipped potatoes, mac and cheese with breadcrumbs, grilled asparagus, broccoli rabe and creamed spinach. Specialty menu items (suckling pig, dinosaur short ribs, lobster bake) are available with one week’s notice.
A full service bar will offer mixed drinks and spirits. Classic cocktails, signature creations and unique wines will complement the dining experience.
