PSEG Long Island Employees Help Their Long Island Neighbors at Food Distribution

Share

A group of PSEG Long Island’s newest employees and interns recently got a lesson in community service by helping Island Harvest Food Bank distribute food and supplies to neighbors in need at the Riverhead Library. The volunteers also gave out LED lightbulbs and reusable shopping bags donated by PSEG Long Island, and provided information about the company’s energy efficiency programs and financial services that are available.
“It felt really good to get out and volunteer in my local community along with my new work colleagues,” said Daniel Corbett of Manorville. “It was wonderful to be a part of something where the people we helped left with smiles on their faces.”
“It felt great to help provide such necessary resources to seniors and veterans in our community,” said Dean Gennosa of Sayville. “What we do at PSEG Long Island is already serving a crucial role in the well-being of our neighbors; doing it face-to-face was impactful.”
“It felt amazing to step out into the community and volunteer for the Island Harvest food distribution event,” said Nikolas Mamakos of Hicksville. “I really enjoyed spending time with my fellow co-workers, while distributing food to people in need. It makes me feel great to know that the company I work for cares about supporting our community in more ways than providing safe and reliable power.”
“It was an absolute pleasure to volunteer and give back,” said Shannon Hewlett of Westhampton. “I am grateful to work for a company that prioritizes giving back to the community.”
Community service is part of PSEG Long Island’s core commitments. This activity demonstrates how the utility’s employees support community causes and issues they care about and affect their neighbors throughout the year.
