Sunday, August 13 saw the Massapequa 12 and Under International Little League Softball team make New York State history as they were crowned the Little League Softball World Series champions following a hard-fought game in Greenville, North Carolina.
The champs, upon touching down at LaGuardia Airport, were were greeted with cheers and a water cannon salute.
The team earned their victory with hard work, determination, and courage, winning 19 games in a row in the tournament before taking the championship on Sunday – the state’s first-ever – against their final opponent, North Carolina.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Town of Oyster Bay announced that they are planning a parade for the winners, the details of which are slated to be released later this week.
