Vincent Ammirati, the current Second Vice President of the Suffolk County Volunteer Firefighters Association and a member of the Legislative Committee of the Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY), has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the FASNY Firefighter’s Home, a skilled-nursing home available to all New York volunteer firefighters. The announcement was made at the association’s 151st annual convention in Niagara Falls, which began on August 10. The Firefighters Home traces its roots back to 1892 and currently has 89 residents.
“I am honored for the opportunity to continue my service to FASNY and my fellow volunteer firefighters in this new capacity and join an outstanding group of Trustees in their dedication to supporting volunteer firefighters who have served their communities but can no longer care for themselves,” Ammirati said.
He has been serving Suffolk County for more than 40 years as a volunteer firefighter and is an active member of numerous organizations in the region. In addition to his roles as Second Vice President of the Suffolk County Volunteer Firefighters Association and FASNY Legislative Committee member, he is Chaplin and Assistant Treasurer of the Selden Fire Department, Trustee and Treasurer of the Selden Volunteer Exempt Benevolent Association, Director at Large of the Southern New York Volunteer Firefighters Association, and a member of the Suffolk County Parade Officials Association, Red Knights Motorcycle Club, and Riders of Fire Motorcycle Club.
Ammirati worked at the Suffolk County Water Authority for more than 30 years and currently works for the Bristal Assisted Living facility as a bus driver, helping senior citizens travel to and from various destinations in the area. He and his wife Susan are parents to daughter FayAnne, and enjoy spending time with their 15-year-old grandson Julian. Ammirati is still an active firefighter with the Selden Fire Department and resides in Bay Shore, NY.
