Suffolk DA: Medford Man Indicted for Sexually Abusing a Six-Year-Old Boy

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today announced that Milton Jiron-Lara, 53, of Medford, was indicted for Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree and other related charges stemming from his alleged sexual assault of a six-year-old boy during a house party less than two weeks ago.
“This defendant allegedly assaulted a defenseless child and then tried to silence him,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Thankfully the child bravely disclosed to his mother what had allegedly occurred after she noticed the bruising on his cheeks. If any parent or guardian suspects their child may be the victim of abuse, I urge you to contact the Suffolk County Police Department or my office’s Child Abuse Unit.”
According to the investigation, on June 24, 2023, Jiron-Lara attended a celebration at a neighbor’s home. In the early morning hours on June 25, 2023, Jiron-Lara allegedly snuck into a bedroom of the home where a six-year-old boy was sleeping. Once inside the room, Jiron-Lara allegedly bit the boy’s face twice, leaving bruises on both cheeks. Jiron-Lara then allegedly sexually assaulted the boy, and then told the child not to tell anyone what had happened. The child disclosed the abuse later that morning when his mother noticed the bruising on his cheeks.
During the police investigation, evidence corroborating the alleged attack was recovered from the bedroom where the boy had been sleeping. Law enforcement also recovered home surveillance camera footage which allegedly showed Jiron-Lara entering and leaving the neighbor’s home where the child was staying. Jiron-Lara was arrested the next day, on June 26, 2023.
On July 6, 2023, Jiron-Lara was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Richard Ambro for the charges of:
  • Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony;
  • Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D violent felony;
  • Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D violent felony,
  • Assault in the Third Degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Judge Ambro ordered Jiron-Lara held on $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or $2.5 million partially secured bond. If convicted of the top charge, Jiron-Lara faces up to 25 years in prison. Jiron-Lara is due back in court on July 26, 2023, and is being represented by Greg Kalmar, Esq.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney MacDonald Drane of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, with investigative assistance from Detective Lisa Hofelich from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victims Section.
