Roosevelt Man Found with Illegal Firearm Following Arrest for Blocking Traffic

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 6:16 pm in Roosevelt.
According to detectives, First Precinct Gang Abatement Program (GAP) Officers were traveling eastbound on Grenada Avenue and patrolling an area known for gang activity, when they observed Gregory Herrera, 20, of 34 Grenada Avenue, standing in the roadway, obstructing vehicular traffic.
Officers exited their vehicle and approached Herrera. Upon further investigation, officers discovered Herrera was in possession of a handgun and recovered a loaded Springfield Arms .40 caliber firearm from the defendant. He was arrested without incident.
 Defendant Gregory Herrera is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and traffic infractions. He will be arraigned on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
