NCPD: Two Suspects Arrested in Old Bethpage in Connection with Drugs, Sale of Illegal Fireworks

The Major Case Bureau reports the details of two Arrests on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 12:09pm in Old Bethpage.
According to Narcotics Vice Squad Detectives, at approximately 11:52am Defendant Matthew Cano, 29, of 66 N. Emerson Avenue Copiague, NY drove to Broadhollow Road in Farmingdale.  Defendant Cano did exit his vehicle, entered into a Jeep Wrangler and proceeded to sell what is believed to be one-half ounce of marijuana, one bag of Tetrahydrocannabinol gummies and a Fusion Psilocybin chocolate bar to another person.
The Defendant also accepted payment to facilitate the sale of illegal fireworks and instructed the person to drive the Jeep Wrangler to 10 Pickwick Drive, Old Bethpage. At that location both persons went to the rear gate and were greeted by Defendant Isaiah Carvalho, 62, of 10 Pickwick Drive Old Bethpage.
Defendant Carvalho guided them to an attached garage where voluminous amounts of fireworks were being stored in an unsafe and hazardous manner and agreed to sell $1000.00 worth of fireworks.  At 12:09 pm Detectives placed all parties into custody. Arson Bomb Squad Detectives responded to the scene and safely removed all fireworks from the location.
Defendant Matthew Cano is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree.  Defendant Isaiah Carvalho is charged with Explosives – Storage, Explosives – Licenses and Certificates and Unlawfully Selling Fireworks with a value of $500 or more.
The Defendants were arraigned on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
