Hicksville Man Threw Food, Used Racial Slurs Before Assaulting Victim, Cops Say

Eighth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Hicksville man for an Assault that occurred on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 6:45 pm in Hicksville.
According to detectives, the male victim, 19, was talking with his aunt and uncle on Woodcrest Road. An unknown male stopped his 2012 Hyundai Sonata on Woodcrest Road, began throwing food at the victim and yelled demeaning and hateful comments at all three (3) people based on their national origin.
The subject’s actions were unprovoked and the victim told the male to leave. The subject exited his vehicle, charged at the victim and struck him in the face with a closed fist. The subject fled the scene in his vehicle.
The victim suffered substantial pain to the right side of his face.
A thorough investigation was conducted and Richard Bauman, 53, of 30 Seth Lane was arrested without incident.
Defendant Bauman is charged with Assault 3rd Degree and Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree.  He was arraigned on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at First District Court, Hempstead.
