AAM Hosts Jacob’s Light Humanitarian Awards Breakfast Honoring FDNY’s Stephen Siller, Suffolk Sheriff Errol Toulon

The American Airpower Museum will host a special FREE breakfast awards program on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in honor of two Long Island heroes.  The Jacob’s Light Humanitarian Award will be presented to local heroes Stephen G. Stiller (posthumously), and to Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon.

The Jacob’s Light Humanitarian Award honors Policemen, Firemen, EMS, Veterans and Active Military, whose contributions to society help make Long Island such a wonderful place to live.  The Jacob’s Light Awards and Breakfast is sponsored by The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Catholic Health of Rockville Centre, and Bristal Assisted Living of Long Island, who will provide breakfast for our guests.

An FDNY Firefighter from Rockville Centre, Nassau County, Siller laid down his life saving others at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.   Tunnel to Towers CEO Frank Siller, formed the foundation in loving memory of his late kid brother Stephen G. Siller.  Errol D. Toulon Jr. was elected Sheriff of Suffolk County in 2017.  The first African American elected official to hold a “nonjudicial countywide office” in Suffolk County history, this popular Sheriff was re-elected to a second term on November 2, 2021.

The award is named after U.S. Army Specialist Jacob Fletcher, who lost his life in Iraq.  Concerned about his fellow soldiers, Fletcher asked his mother Doreen Kenny to send extra care packages he could give them.  Even after Fletcher lost his life, she continued sending care packages to soldiers for 10 years, and Jacob’s Light program coordinator Hubert Johnson continues her mission to this day.  Contact him at (631) 413-5322 or [email protected].  Assisting Johnson is Legislator Leslie Kennedy, (631) 854-7245, (631) 854-3735 or [email protected].

Our featured speaker Jack Oehm, a retired Battalion Chief of the FDNY and Board Member for Tunnels to Towers, will describe the Foundation’s mission to support first responder families and disabled veterans.  The public is encouraged and welcome to attend this totally FREE breakfast program.  Come celebrate with prominent elected officials and heroes from Nassau and Suffolk Counties.  But, be advised that since space is limited, please email [email protected] today to reserve a seat!

The American Airpower Museum is an aviation museum located on the landmarked former site of Republic Aviation at Republic Airport, Farmingdale, NY.  The Museum maintains a collection of aviation artifacts and an array of aircraft spanning the many years of the aircraft factory’s history.  The Museum is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Educational Foundation Chartered by the New York State Board of Regents.
