$500K Bail of Congressman and Accused Serial Liar George Santos Put Up by His Father & Aunt

U.S. Rep. George Santos – the controversial New York republican who infamously lied regarding numerous aspects of his life, education, and business experiences while campaigning – had his $500,000 bail put up by his father and aunt after being arrested on federal criminal charges in May for allegedly utilizing campaign funds for personal expenses.
Gercino Dos Santos and Elma Santos Preven had put up the heft sum to spring the allegedly crooked congressman from jail, according to court documents that were unsealed on Thursday by U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert.
Santos, 34, grew into infamy after being elected to Congress last fall after it was revealed that many of the statements he made during his campaign were false, including claims that he was a rich Wall Street investor with a vast real estate portfolio and had been a star volleyball player in college.
The GOP Rep. recently pleaded not guilty to a13-count indictment at a Central Islip federal court, which included accusations of embezzling contributions from supporters, fraudulently obtaining unemployment benefits, and lying in disclosures to the House of Representatives.
