Uniondale Schools Scholars’ Artwork Displayed at New York State Art Teachers Association Legislative Student Art Exhibit

Uniondale Union Free School District has announced that eight Uniondale scholars have been selected to have their artwork displayed virtually at the New York State Art Teachers Association Legislative Student Art Exhibit. This is the 33rd annual exhibit which features artwork from scholars K-12 across New York State.

“Congratulations to the eight scholars selected by the New York State Art Teachers Association to have their artwork displayed at the Legislative Student Art Exhibit,” said Mr. Kelvin Jenkins, Director of Fine and Performing Arts. “For our scholars to receive this prestigious recognition is a testament to their skills and dedication to the arts.”

Uniondale scholars’ artwork spanned a wide range of mediums, and subject areas include abstract art, sculptures, still life and more.

Uniondale congratulates the following scholars for having their artwork displayed in the exhibit:

  • Nathaneal Flood, 5th grader at Walnut Street Elementary School
  • Maria Ramos Gonzalez, 5th grader at Walnut Street Elementary SchoolAmber Gill, 7th grader at Turtle Hook Middle School
  • Chynue Lindo Midy, 7th grader at Turtle Hook Middle School
  • Juliana Salazar, 9th grader at Uniondale High School
  • Philicia Roye, 9th grader at Uniondale High SchoolKarla Guevara Carrillo, 12th grader at Uniondale High School
  • Anais Arriola, 12th grader at Uniondale High School

Uniondale School District’s Fine Arts curriculum embodies the central belief that appreciation of the arts is a life-long attribute. It is Uniondale’s intent that by teaching various forms of art, scholars will discover culture, history, aesthetics, critiquing and develop real-life connections to art both in and out of school.

The exhibit is open for viewing through February 2024 at www.nysata.org/legislative-exhibit.
