The Seventh Squad reports on the arrest of a Franklin Square man for an Assault that occurred on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 8:15 PM in Merrick.
According to Detectives, defendant John Vano, 50, of 187 Barrymore Boulevard, while working as an employee of La Piazza, located at 2191 Merrick Road, got into a verbal argument with another employee, a 42-year-old male. Defendant John Vano proceeded to strike the victim in the head with a large pizza peel, causing a laceration before fleeing the scene prior to Police arrival. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, May 7, 2023 Defendant John Vano turned himself in to Nassau County Police at the 7th Precinct and was placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant John Vano is charged with Assault 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, May 8, 2023 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
