Burglary at Olivo’s Restaurant in East Garden City: Three Suspects Apprehended

East Garden City was rocked by a brazen burglary at Olivo’s Restaurant on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at approximately 7:50 PM, as reported by the Third Squad. Local detectives have revealed the shocking details of the incident, which unfolded at the Roosevelt Field Mall located on 630 Old County Road. Prompt action from vigilant officers and security personnel led to the swift capture of three suspects involved in the crime.
The scene was set when Roosevelt Field Mall’s security personnel received a distress call from their observant team stationed near Olivo’s Restaurant kiosk. Two unidentified males were spotted surveying the area while a third male suspect clandestinely slipped behind the counter. It was there that he brazenly seized the cash drawer, causing extensive damage estimated at around $3,000 in US currency. As the perpetrators made their escape on foot, mall security recovered the abandoned cash drawer, and the police sprang into action.
In a coordinated effort, law enforcement officers located the suspects in the lower-level parking garage. Their swift and decisive response resulted in the apprehension of all three individuals at 8:12 PM, without any further incident. One of the suspects, identified as Araldo G. Reyes, was found in possession of a forged New Jersey State license, further complicating his legal situation.
The defendants involved in this audacious burglary have been named as Michael Owens, aged 18, residing at 21 Acorn Road in East Rockaway, and Nicholas Ficarra, aged 19, residing at 8 Hazel Place in Lynbrook. Both individuals face charges of third-degree burglary. Additionally, Araldo G. Reyes, aged 20, residing at 26 Devine St. 1st Floor in Lynbrook, is charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
The three defendants are scheduled to appear for arraignment on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the First District Court located at 99 Main Street in Hempstead. The court proceedings will shed further light on the extent of their alleged involvement in the burglary.
