Huntington’s Cinema Arts Centre’s “Comic Gems” series is back this month with a screening of one of the greatest comedies of all time, Mel Brooks’ 1974 horror parody, ‘Young Frankenstein’!
Later this Spring, join the Cinema Arts Centre for screenings of other beloved classics such as David Lean’s ‘Doctor Zhivago’, Elia Kazan’s ‘On the Waterfront’, Woody Allen’s ‘Annie Hall’, the classic Beatles film ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, Billy Wilder’ ‘Some Like it Hot’, and some of Stanley Kubrick’s greatest films!

Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein
with introduction by film historian Glenn Andreiev
Part homage and part parody of Universal Pictures 1930s monster movies, Mel Brooks gives the old horror classic a riotous comic twist! Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick (Gene Wilder) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor, and a leggy lab assistant, Inga, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestor. “It’s alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity abounds.
