Deli Owner Busted for Illegal Activities During Liquor Inspection in North Babylon

Suffolk County Police arrested a woman during a State Liquor Authority inspection at a deli in North Babylon last night.
In response to community and area business owner’s complaints, First Precinct Crime Section, First Precinct Community Support Unit and First Precinct Patrol officers were conducting an investigation in conjunction with the State Liquor Authority and the Town of Babylon Building Inspector and Fire Marshal, at Belmont Twins Deli, located at 746 Belmont Ave., at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The owner of the deli, Silvia Ramirez, was charged with Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor; Promoting Gambling, a misdemeanor; and Possession of Gambling Devices, a misdemeanor, for allowing people to consume alcohol on premise and gambling.
Ramirez, 55, of West Babylon, was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on May 18. The Town of Babylon issued summonses to an employee of the business for building and liquor license code violations. The business has been referred to the State Liquor Authority for further investigation.
