Carvana, the used car seller that made it easy for people to shop for vehicles from their couch through their website, has unveiled its first car vending machine on Long Island.
Can you put a quarter into the slot and out pops a used car like a gumball?
Well, not exactly. The big steel and glass structure in Garden City stands eight stories tall and has the capacity to hold up to 27 cars that are then distributed to the customer right there on the spot after you purchase your car online. But the machine does sound like a fun experience, according to a description about how it works from the company.
“If a customer selects the vending machine, upon arrival, they will be greeted by a customer advocate and receive a commemorative, oversized Carvana coin to activate the automated vending process,” the company described in a press release. “Carvana customers get a front-row seat to watch their newly purchased vehicle descend through the brightly lit vending structure from the heart of the all-glass tower.”
This is the company’s first vending machine in New York State, and the 35th in the U.S. The Carvana vending machine is located at 2 North Avenue, Garden City. Location hours are Monday through Sunday from 9am-7pm
