Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Sean Mohan, 49, of Central Islip, was sentenced today to a determinate period of eight years in prison and two years of post-release supervision after a jury found him guilty at trial last November on charges that stemmed from the execution of a search warrant at his residence in 2021.
“This previously convicted felon continued to endanger the community by once again selling dangerous drugs for profit,” said District Attorney Tierney. “This trial conviction sentence should send a message that we will not tolerate persistent criminal activity. We will find you and hold you accountable.”
Mohan was found guilty on November 3, 2022 after a jury trial before Acting Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Anthony S. Senft, Jr., of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, for possessing a narcotic drug with the intent to sell it, a Class B felony, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. Mohan was represented by Toni Marie Angeli, Esq.
The evidence at trial established that on August 6, 2021, members of the Suffolk County Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant for narcotics at Mohan’s residence.During the execution of the search warrant, officers recovered in excess of eight ounces of cocaine from several locations within the home, four digital scales, four cell phones, a drug ledger, and over $1,100 in drug proceeds.
In 2004, Mohan was previously convicted of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a Class D felony, in Suffolk County Court.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Saam Jalayer of the Narcotics Bureau.
