Share

Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the Sound Symphony Orchestra concert, directed by Dorothy Savitch and Alex Wen, at Comsewogue Middle School. Celebrating their 39th season, the group dedicated the performance to the memory of Joe Murgia.
They performed compositions including Carmen Suite No. 1 by Georges Bizet, Hoe-Down by Aaron Copland, The Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten and narrated by Kathryn Loddengaard, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.N. Howard and arranged by Roszell, The Complete Harry Potter arranged by Jerry Brubaker, Video Games Live arranged by Ralph Ford, and A Tribute to John Williams arranged by Paul Lavender.
“The Sound Symphony Orchestra was a fantastic event that was enjoyed by all,” said Legislator Anker. “Thank you to the conductors, performers, and staff, that continue to share the joys and intricacies of music making with our community. The talent of these artists is unmatched!”
The Sound Symphony Orchestra will be preforming on March 19th and June 11th at Comsewogue High School. Since their founding in 1984, they have offered a series of outstanding programs of both classical and contemporary composers. They often encourage talented young musicians to participate with their family friendly concert every January and solo competition every May. The Sound Symphony is a unique and exciting orchestra that presents concerts throughout the entire year, performed by members of the community, for the community.
