The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of a homeless man for a Fatal Auto Accident that occurred on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 7:05 pm in Freeport.
According to detectives, Tyshaun M. Johashen, 32, was operating a 2018 Nissan Sentra, traveling southbound on Babylon Turnpike in the vicinity of Carroll Street and struck a female pedestrian, 24. The female victim suffered severe trauma and was pronounced at the scene.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Johashen, who remained at the scene, was intoxicated at the time of the accident and was placed under arrest without incident.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
Defendant Tyshaun M. Johashen is charged with Manslaughter 2nd Degree, Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree and Unlicensed Operation of a vehicle.
He will be arraigned on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
