“Odds Against Tomorrow” follows a bigoted, small-time thief, and a black musician deeply in debt to the mob, both of whom are forced to work together in a bank robbery orchestrated by crooked former cop. While primarily a crime film gone fatally wrong, ‘Odds Against Tomorrow’ also deftly delves into the subject of racism and segregation.

Harry Belafonte stars as Johnny Ingram, a gambler who teams up with a ruthless killer, Eric Slater, and a crooked ex-cop, to rob a bank. Things quickly start to go wrong when Eric, fueled by his racist hatred, clashes with Johnny resulting in the heist quickly spiraling out of control. Directed by Oscar-winner Robert Wise (The Sound of Music, West Side Story), Odds Against Tomorrow represents one of the most significant films about race and one of the last of the true 50s film noirs.
