The Rochester Business Journal reported on Wednesday that Wegmans has crossed another hurdle in getting their Lake Grove store built.
The village of Lake Grove gave the food store special-use permits and variances it needed along with approving the site plan.
In April, Wegmans announced that it was bringing its first store to Long Island. The 100,000-sq-ft store will be located in the DSW plaza at the corner of Middle County Road and Moriches Road. Wegmans has entered into an agreement to purchase 8.5 acres of the existing 28-acre plaza.
In a survey of the best retailers in America conducted by Newsweek, Wegmans took the top spot in 2022.
Those who are excited about the prospect of Wegmans opening here will have to wait a little while longer. The company plans to open the store in 2024.
