Spicy Home Tasty 2 Opens at Former Tofu Restaurant in Farmingville

Share

Spicy Home Tasty 2 has opened in the former Tofu Chinese and Japanese restaurant in Farmingville. The menu is vastly different and anyone looking for sushi will have to go somewhere else. Spicy Home Tasty 2 is serving Szechuan-style Chinese food for takeout and sit down meals.

The new owners of the Chinese food spot came out from Commack to open their second location. Locals are thrilled that Spicy Home Tasty 2 has opened close to home, some saying they would travel all the way to Commack to their original location.

The interior is not your typical Chinese takeout, with a spacious dining area and plenty of seating at tables and booths. The decor is simple. clean and upscale.

Red Dates and Honey Ribs ($18.50), Pork Belly with House Special Sauce ($17.50), and Shrimp with Fermented Sweet Rice Sauce ($21.50) are on the Chef’s special menu. Appetizers include Cold Sesame Noodles ($9), Seaweed Salad ($6.50), Dumplings In Chili Oil ($9), and Crystal Shrimp Dumplings ($9). They also have a noodle menu with Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($13.50) and Spicy Beef Noodle Soup ($13.50).

The menu isn’t just all chicken and broccoli and lo mein (although they have that too.) Their dry pot style dishes come with celery, wood ears, lotus roots, red and green pepper, bamboo shoots and cilantro served with a choice of proteins. Hot sauce style dishes are served with a choice of protein with stir fried cabbage, garlic, celery  and cilantro in an authentic Szechuan hot sauce.

On Yelp, Steven C, from Patchogue, said he recommends the new restaurant and used to travel to their Commack store.

“Now that this one is here, this will definitely be our new favorite Chinese restaurant,” he added.

Glen R, from Holbrook, said it was “a welcome addition to the area!

“Spicy Home prepares authentic Szechuan food with high quality ingredients,” he wrote. “Went there on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. They overhauled the decor and the room has night and day better ambiance than the previous tenant Tofu.”

Diane W, from Holbrook, gave it five stars.

“Thrilled that Spicy Home Tasty opened a second location without sacrificing any of the quality found in their Commack location,” she said. “If you’re tired of eating mediocre Chinese you owe it to your taste buds to give this place a try. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The food is simply amazing!!”

Location: 1260 Waverly Avenue, Farmingville, (631) 698-6550.
