The New York State Department of Transportation advised motorists that there will be closures this week on the Long Island Expressway (Interstate 495) in Nassau County to facilitate various bridge and highway maintenance operations.
- Wednesday, December 7: The westbound lanes will be closed and detoured onto the North Service Road between Exit 39 (Glen Cove Road) and Exit 38 (Northern State Parkway) between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
- Wednesday, December 7: The eastbound HOV and left lanes will be closed at Exit 38 from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.
- Thursday, December 8: The eastbound right and center lanes will be closed at Exit 37 (Willis Avenue) between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
All closures are weather dependent.
Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
